Research Status

From August 2007 to August 2009, Dr. Yao worked with Prof. Andrew B. Kahng as a postdoctoral scholar in Department of Computer Science and Engineering, UC San Diego. Since September 2009, he has been working in the Department of Computer Science and technology, Tsinghua University. He has published over 60 research papers, 2 US patents, 10 China patents, and 6 computer software copyrights. Among the publications, there are 11 papers in IEEE/ACM transactions/journals, and more than 10 papers at DAC/ICCAD/ISPD/ASP-DAC (ACM/IEEE Design Automation Conference, ACM/IEEE International Conference on Computer-Aided Design, ACM International Symposium on Physical Design, ACM/IEEE Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference, premier conferences in the EDA field). He has received a SASIMI (The International Workshop on Synthesis and System Integration of Mixed Information Technologies) Best Paper Award (1%) in 2016, two Best Paper Award Nominations from ICCAD (1%) in 2006 and 2008, respectively, and an ISQED (IEEE International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design) Best Paper Award Nomination in 2011. Based on his research achievements, Prof. Yao was elevated to Senior Member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) in 2015. He served as member of the Technical Program Committee in important international conferences such as ISPD, DATE, ASP-DAC, DAC Ph.D. Forum, ICCAD SRC, FPT, etc., and served as associate editor in Elsevier Heliyon Journal, guest editor in Microelectronic Journal, etc.
