Research Status

Professor Zheng has long been dedicated to research and teaching in the fields of high-performance computer architecture, parallel algorithms and systems, storage systems, and big data and artificial intelligence processing platforms.

He proposed a scalable storage system architecture and a lightweight parallel scaling mechanism, established foundational theories and methods for storage system scalability, and pioneered the development of a domestic network storage system with fully independent intellectual property rights. He also introduced a lightweight encoding method for high-fault-tolerance erasure codes and a rapid data self-healing model, significantly advancing techniques for improving storage system reliability. Additionally, he led the pioneering development and successful deployment of high-performance computers based on cluster architectures in China.

Over many years, Professor Zheng has taught courses in computer system architecture and has authored or co-authored 10 textbooks and monographs in related fields.

His outstanding contributions have earned him numerous prestigious awards, including the First Class and Second Class National Science and Technology Progress Awards, the Second Class National Invention Award, and the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation. In 2016, he received the ACM Gordon Bell Prize. In 2008, his course was recognized as a National Quality Course.
