Research Status

My research focuses on storage and artificial intelligence systems. In flash storage, I pioneered 'software-managed flash' (later known as Open-Channel SSD), which removes the FTL to expose flash hardware directly to system software, revolutionizing industry practices. In memory systems, I designed an RDMA-based distributed NVM file system, introducing the concept of distributed shared persistent memory, which influenced subsequent research on memory pooling and memory disaggregation. I also lead the development of SuperFS, which is deployed in 'Pengcheng CloudBrain II' and has topped the IO500 ranking since 2023. Additionally, I have proposed innovative techniques in vector storage, GPU memory management, and scheduling, receiving multiple paper awards.
