Curriculum

1. Master of Science in Computer Science and Technology

Master of Science students must complete a minimum of 27 credit units, including 5 credit units for general education and 22 credit units from their chosen major. The students must satisfy the minimum credit units and other academic requirements outlined in the master’s program in order to acquire the master’s degree.

Candidates need to complete a research project and thesis with potential theoretical and/or application results. Guided by their advisors, the students are required to submit a research proposal towards a thesis, which is reviewed and approved by a committee formed by three to five faculty members. After that, the students spend at least one calendar year to do research and finish their theses. The degree is granted once they pass the final defense, subject to the approval by a committee formed by five faculty members. Students should also have at least one peer-reviewed paper accepted or published by a journal or a conference.

2. Master of Engineering

Master of Engineering students must complete a minimum of 31 credit units, including 8 units for general education and 23 credit units from their chosen major. The students must satisfy the minimum credit units and other academic requirements outlined in the master’s program in order to acquire the master’s degree.

Candidates need to complete a research project and thesis with potential theoretical and/or application results. Guided by their advisors, the students are required to submit the research proposal towards a thesis, which is reviewed and approved by a committee formed by three to five faculty members and two anonymous reviewers. After that, the students spend at least three semesters to do research and finish their theses. The degree is granted once they pass the final defense subject, subject to the approval by a committee formed by five faculty members.
