It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the second Global Forum on Development of Computer Science (GFDCS), which will take place from 8pm-11pm on September 17th, 2021 (Beijing time). Due to the COVID-19 situation, the forum will be held online this year.
The theme of this year’s GFDCS is “Mission and Responsibilities of Computer Science". The forum aims to bring together Heads/Deans from top computer science departments/schools and leading computer scientists affiliated with various academic and industrial institutes around the world. There will be three keynotes on the following topics: Building the new Schwarzman College of Computing at MIT; Computer Science at University 2.0—What the Future Holds and How We Can Shape It; Challenges and Opportunities in Computer Science Executive Education. The forum will conclude with a panel discussion on the Role of Computer Science in University Development Strategy chaired by Turing Award Winner Prof. Andrew Yao, who is the Dean of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua University.
We sincerely invite you to attend this forum and participate in a wide-ranging discussion on the latest computer science trends, including but not limited to the role of computer science in university development strategy and interdisciplinary opportunities for computer science.
The first GFDCS was held in September 2018 at Tsinghua University, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University. Thirty-five (vice) heads/deans from top universities (including MIT, UCLA, Oxford and Imperial College) attended the event and exchanged ideas on how to promote the development of the global computer science discipline and improve the quality of talent cultivation. We believe that the second GFDCS will have even greater success with your presence.
